Peer Supporter Tracey Wright

Tracey began a career in EMS in 1989, became a paramedic in 1991, and was appointed to Youngstown Fire Department in 1993. She currently serves as a Captain. Throughout her career, she has   strived to serve as an advocate for her profession.

As a member of the OAPFF Peer Support Network, Tracey wants to help her peers overcome the feelings of self–stigma often associated with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.  From personal experience, she understands many of the internalized feelings such as isolation, embarrassment, and even distrust.  However, more importantly, Tracey wants to help others recognize their strengths and the options available to feel whole once again.

Tracey is married (1998) to Kurt who is also a Captain with YFD.  She is a student at Colorado State University and enjoys volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters.  In 2015, she became a member of the Mahoning County CISM team and received certifications in both Group and Individual Crisis Intervention.

Tracey wants to emphasize, “On the job, we are committed to working together through challenging situations.  That same level of support is available off the job as well.”
