Peer Supporter Chad Zambori

My name is Chad Zambori and I am a Lieutenant at Cumberland Trail Fire District.  I also hold the position of President in Local 3667.  I’m very proud of each position and how all of our employees handle every situation.

My interest in peer support came from a few different areas in my life, both home and work, and we all know that they go hand and hand.  At work, we have 21 full time employees and some part time personnel.  At such a small department, we all know each other very well.  In January of 2012 my Lieutenant committed suicide, we came into Cumberland Trail right around the same time and had been on the same shift pretty much from day 1.  Then, in December of 2013 our Fire Chief also committed suicide.  At the time that was 10% of our guys that had taken their own lives.

In April of 2016, my youngest son Leo was diagnosed with Leukemia.  He was 6 years old at the time.  As a parent this was devastating news.  Leo has a great plan of care and is on the path to being healthy, happy kid.  We have an end treatment date of June 9, 2019.

All of this has made me who I am today, and I know how much of a toll it can take.  I hope to be able to help anyone that may be facing similar situations.
